Emma
Baldwin - Solicitor
Emma is an Assistant Solicitor within the Family and Matrimonial Department. She read Law and German at the University of Wales, Swansea and spent a year abroad, studying at Mannheim University.
Emma completed her training contract with Horsey Lightly, qualifying in September 2007. Emma has always been particularly interested in Family Law and joined the Family and Matrimonial team upon qualification. She currently works alongside Lynn Wallis and has already had experience of cases with limited assets to those with substantial complexities.

David
Bright - Solicitor
David joined Horsey Lightly in 2004 as a trainee solicitor, before qualifying in 2006 into the Business services group. David, a graduate of the University of Wales, undertakes both company and commercial work ranging from transactional work relating to the sale and purchase of businesses to terms and conditions.

David C Bunn -
Solicitor
Admitted as a Solicitor in 1991, David qualified originally
as a barrister but then lectured in law before becoming a Solicitor.
David is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of
Taxation and is a member of the Law Society’s Probate
Section.

John
Clementson -
Consultant
With a law degree from Kings College London and having been
admitted as a solicitor in 1978, John has spent almost all
of his professional career in the City and the West End of
London – eight years as group solicitor and company secretary
to a very successful publicly quoted hotel and restaurant company,
and most recently in partnership for more than ten years in
Mayfair and St James’s – before joining Horsey
Lightly as a consultant in 2003.
In over twenty-five years of practice, John has accumulated
extensive experience in a wide range of commercial transactions
including not only the acquisition, development and disposal
of businesses and of commercial residential and investment
properties, but also in all aspects of commercial, retail,
residential and licensed premises including construction and
development; acquisitions and disposals; financing and secured
lending and UK property investment. John has acted in the acquisition
and disposal of numerous hotels, pubs, clubs and restaurants
and has acquired particular expertise in the field of liquor
licensing and public entertainment.
As well as acting for his UK clients, John has many overseas
clients and deals with their off-shore interests in a number
of jurisdictions, (including the incorporation of foreign companies
and the establishment of overseas trusts), particularly in
connection with investment in commercial and/or residential
property in the UK.

Rosemary Cook - Consultant
Rosemary has recently joined the Newbury office of our Business
Services Group. Her practice area includes, in particular,
mergers & acquisitions, project finance and commercial
agreements. During the 20+ years since she qualified,
Rosemary
has been engaged in both private practice with internationally
leading law firms in Sydney, Australia (Freehills) & London
(Freshfields) and also practice within industry, most recently
as General Counsel at International Power plc (a FTSE 100 company,
which is an owner & operator of electrical generating capacity
worldwide), heading the company's team of project lawyers.

Stuart Duncan - Solicitor
Stuart graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2002 with Honours in English Literature and Spanish. He went on to study Law at the College of Law in Guildford and joined Horsey Lightly as a trainee in 2005. He qualified in 2007, joining the Family and matrimonial department.
Stuart undertakes all aspects of private family law including divorce, separation, matrimonial finance, children, cohabitation, pre-nuptial and separation agreements.

Elianne Edgington -
Solicitor
Elianne studied Law at Cardiff University and joined a leading
Oxford firm in 2004, where she completed her training contract
and gained experience in a variety of areas before deciding
to specialise in family work.
Elianne has experience in dealing
with divorce including its financial consequences and issues
relating to children. She moved to Horsey Lightly October
2006 as a Solicitor in our Family team.

George MLN Gilpin -
Solicitor
George qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and joined the commercial
property department of our Newbury office in 2006 where he
undertakes a wide range of property related work.
George represents Great Britain in target rifle shooting,
and also enjoys hill walking, fly fishing and travelling.

Amanda Greenough - Solicitor
Amanda joined Horsey Lightly in September 2007 and specialises in the making of Wills, administration of estates, Court of Protection applications and elderly client matters.
Amanda is married with two sons and previously ran her own Will Writing company before joining the firm.

Barry
Jameson -
Consultant
Barry Jameson is an employment law specialist with some 25
years of experience in this field behind him. For the last
6 years of these he has specialised in this area of the law
exclusively. He joined the practice in Newbury
to be closer to home. For the previous 4 years, he set up and
expanded the employment law department of a central London
13 partner practice in Holborn, where he was a partner for
some 30 years.
Barry has extensive expertise in both contentious and non-contentious
employment issues dealing with complex problems for both employers
and employees. These range from extensive Tribunal work, negotiating
exit packages for directors and senior management to helping
to structure reorganisation or redundancy schemes for all types
of businesses and SMEs to charities, housing associations and
government bodies.
Barry also has considerable experience in providing seminars
and teach-ins for employer clients on important topics in this
rapidly changing area of the law emphasising the practical
effect whenever possible. Barry also coordinates the Employment
Law Group's marketing and business development.

Richard Janes -
Solicitor
Richard brings over 37 years, wide and respected legal experience
to Horsey Lightly following the merger with his long established
practice in 2007. Having worked in many areas of the law he
is best known for his skills in divorce, matrimonial work and
residential conveyancing requiring high levels of professional
involvement.

James Larke -
Solicitor
After studying law at Southampton University and the College
of Law, Guildford, James qualified as a solicitor in October
2001. Since then, he has practised in all areas of Property
and Private Client work. He now specialises in Commercial Property
with particular emphasis on secured lending. In December 2004,
James joined our London office as an Associate Solicitor to
assist in the further development of our Commercial Property
Department.
Outside the office, James enjoys sailing and squash.

Nicholas DF Plaut -
Consultant
Nicholas Plaut was admitted in 1974 and has practised as a
property specialist for more than thirty years, principally
in the West End of London. He joined the firms as a Consultant
Solicitor in 2003.
He has been involved in a complete cross section of developments
ranging from high profile projects such as redevelopment of
a London railway terminus to a complete spectrum of office,
retail and residential schemes. He acts for clients, based
both locally and overseas, in the acquisition of a wide range
of commercial and residential property for both investment
and development purposes.
A significant part of his practice is in the area of property
finance. He has acted for a number of major lenders in this
field, one of them for over twenty-five years.

Kate Thomas -
Solicitor
Kate joined Horsey Lightly in January 2005 and specialises
in commercial and residential property advising developers,
companies and private individuals on the acquisition and disposal
of freehold and leasehold property, portfolio management as
well as general landlord and tenant matters.

Edward Whittington -
Solicitor
Edward read history at Edinburgh University before qualifying
as a solicitor. His work involves commercial property including
business leases, property sales and acquisitions, property
development and the sale and purchase of businesses. He has
experience of dealing with charities, individual landowners,
private trusts and companies.

Alan Meyer -
Consultant
Alan is a former senior partner of our old "Halsley Lightly" practice
and returned to the firm in January 2005 on a consultancy basis.
Alan is primarily a private client solicitor, but also has
wide experience in medical negligence matters and charities.

John Fox -
Consultant
John was admitted as a Solicitor in 1973, subsequently working
in his own practice in London for sixteen years. He joined
us in 1993 as a Consultant Solicitor specialising in: residential
conveyancing (freehold and leasehold); mortgages and repossessions;
commercial conveyancing (freehold and leasehold – shops,
offices, factories and warehouses, wine bars and restaurants,
public houses, residential developments, investment property,
landlord and tenant law and secured lending).
In his work, which includes preparing cases for Counsel’s
opinion, John has established many valuable contacts in and
around London with those in senior positions within various
professional practices and offers considerable Central London
experience in dealing with English and overseas clients’ private
and commercial matters.

Christopher Ward -
Consultant
Having qualified as a Solicitor in 1966, Christopher gained
broad experience before joining Horsey Lightly’s
Newbury office in 2001. He is recognised as leading commercial
and residential development lawyer with extensive experience
in all aspects of residential land development and commercial
conveyancing including the acquisition and disposal of businesses
and business property, s.106, highway, drainage and other infrastructure
agreements.
Christopher is also closely involved in the complex detail
of social housing and leasehold management solutions. His expert
opinion also strengthens the firm’s charity law team.
