Horsey Lightly’s matrimonial department continues to grow as it welcomes its newest member.

Paola Cuffolo will be working alongside Alison Whistler, who heads up the matrimonial department.

Paola will be involved in a variety of work covered by the department as well as supporting her senior colleagues with their client portfolio.

She said ‘I have been interested in Family Law since I was a teenager, but my interest was confirmed after I undertook an elective module in it during the LPC, and then a six-month seat during my training contract. I find it extremely varied, highly people-centric and challenging in all the best ways. I’m very much looking forward to making a career in this area.’

Paola qualified in March of this year and previously worked for a large regional firm of solicitors as a Senior Paralegal in their Dispute Resolution department.  Originally an opera singer and director, Paola went on to complete her conversion qualification so that she could begin a career in law.

‘Horsey Lightly appealed as an extremely well-established and clearly well-regarded firm in the Newbury area, and when I met the team, I immediately felt that it would be a good fit for me; we seem to share a similar outlook on this area of law and its function and practice. I look forward to the opportunity to hit the ground running and explore different areas of Family law.’

Alison Whistler said, ‘I’m delighted that Paola will be joining the Family Team here at Horsey lightly. The effects of the pandemic have had an ongoing impact on many people’s lives and relationships, and we have seen in the department, particularly over the last 6 months, a steady increase in the number of enquiries about divorce, separation and child contact/arrangements disputes. It is clear that Paola’s motivation and determination to help clients at such a difficult time in their lives will be a huge asset to the department.’
